A New Blog Presents Challenges

It wasn’t really my idea to start a blog. A number of my Macintosh-involved friends (Andy Ihnatko, Victor Marks, Alexander von Below, and Barry Porter to name four) have been hucking me to do this for years. I was reluctant because many moons ago I was stalked by someone who followed me through UseNet and forums and tried to discredit anything I said. I actually called the local police to report his threats too. I don’t relish having to deal with that again. Then I realized that my name is already all over the Web, so why not start another avenue to post my work and prose. Let’s face it, my previous employer did not promote my work, so it’s now up to me. A daunting task!

I plan to post Apple and photography related product reviews here, useful advice of varying kinds, my best photos, and bits and pieces that surface from the dark recesses of my mind. I hope that the companies that have supported my work previously, continue to do so, by inviting me to press conferences and continued access to products. We shall see. We shall see.

I should make a plan, which is, after all, what my degree is all about, but I find that a blank page and a loose mind provides better stimulus to create. I leave it to you, my reader (grin), to help me focus. Please tell me what topics, products, or items, you want me to inform you about.

I do hope you folks support my efforts by leaving engaging (or not) comments, clicking through links or banners, and sharing my posts with your friends. All your support is much appreciated.

In the meantime, while I never learned to whistle well, I listen to one of my many favorite childhood songs while I work. I found quite a few interesting versions of “Whistle While You Work,” which I’ve linked to in the first paragraph. I love the way hearing silly little tunes make everything seem easier.

Do you listen to music while you work? What songs help you work more easily? I guess I might as well test the poll function if I’m going to ask you a question, eh? Wow, big graphic!

About ileneh

I am a Macintosh expert, writer and photographer. I have published many articles on Apple related products, but I cut my writer's teeth producing grants and market research reports when the Web was just something a spider made. I've also worked as a photographer, dancer and social worker. ilene's Machine was born in 2000 when I realized everything I did involved some kind of machine. First, my answering machine, next a Vic 20, then a Mac 128. Add a variety of Macintosh machines and iOS devices over the years and before you know it, you have reached ilene's Machine. Please leave a message!

“Muisic for Airports” by Brian Eno is excellent music to have on when writing or doing other work that requires concentration.
